ST. PAUL — A former lawmaker who is the longest-serving woman in the history of the Minnesota House has suffered a stroke. Former Rep. Mary Murphy, DFL-Hermantown, experienced a stroke last week and is in comfort care following complications, House Speaker Melissa Hortman said in a Facebook post late Monday. Hortman said Murphy remains hospitalized until she can be transferred to a hospice care facility. “Mary has had some visitors. Her family hopes that Mary could feel and appreciate their presence,” Hortman said. “While heart-wrenching, the family has determined that hospice is the best solution. Mary will receive comfort care at the hospital until she can be placed in a hospice care facility, which they expect to happen soon.” Murphy, 85, is the second-longest-serving member of the Minnesota House and the longest-serving female legislator. She was first elected in 1976 and was defeated in her bid to represent the Duluth-area seat in 2022 by 33 votes. She’s also a former history and social studies teacher. Murphy was supposed to participate in last week’s Electoral College voting last week at the Capitol, an honor bestowed by party officials. She didn’t attend and an alternate was elevated. Hortman said Murphy’s family is grateful for the love and support shown by her friends, colleagues and community. Muscat: The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Oman, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of Oman and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), hosted the “Korea-Oman Renewable Energy Business Roundtable and KSP (Knowledge Sharing Programme) kick-off meeting” in Muscat on December 12. The roundtable was attended by more than 70 government officials, business stakeholders and experts from Korea and Oman, to promote partnership in the renewable energy sector, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Oman. Salim Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals of the Sultanate of Oman graced the meeting and delivered a keynote speech on behalf of the Omani government. Representatives from energy companies of Oman were in attendance such as Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC), Nama Power and Water Procurement Company, HYDROM (Hydrogen Oman), and Oman LNG. The meeting was attended by representatives from Korea’s leading energy-related organisations and companies, including the Korea Electric Power Research Institute (KEPRI), Hyosung Heavy Industries, POSCO Holdings, GS Energy, Samsung E&C, and LS Cable & System. The participants discussed ways to strengthen Korea-Oman cooperation in the value chains of renewable energy, from power production to storage and transport, as well as in elaborating technological solutions to be applied to enhance efficiency ofrenewable energy. The meeting also included a kick-off of Korea’s 2024-25 Knowledge Sharing Programme (KSP) project with Oman, which aims to share experiences and best practices between the two countries to improve the reliability and efficiency in integrating renewables into the national power system. KIM Kiejoo, Ambassador of Korea to Oman underlined that there is great potential for mutually beneficial cooperation between Korea and Oman in the field of renewable energy, and expressed his hope that the two countries will further expand their collaboration. The NFL Is Ready to Take Over Hollywood NowTEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Caleb McCullough was there for the dark times at Arizona State, when the losses piled up and the cloud of an NCAA investigation was hovering over the program. The senior linebacker opted to stick around, believing in coach Kenny Dillingham's vision for a better future. It came sooner than anyone outside the program expected. "I’m doing whatever I can to win,” McCullough said. “I’m not really a stat player. This is my last year of college and my main goal is just to win.” The Sun Devils are doing just that, becoming one of college football's biggest surprises along the way. Picked to finish last in its first Big 12 season, Arizona State (8-2, 5-2 Big 12) now controls its destiny for a spot in the conference title game. The 21st-ranked Sun Devils have already clinched their first bowl berth since 2021, the year they were last ranked in the AP Top 25 before this week. Arizona State has taken down two ranked teams this season, 27-19 over then-No. 16 Utah on Oct. 11 and 24-14 at then-No. 20 Kansas State last weekend. The Sun Devils will play their biggest home game in recent memory against No. 14 BYU on Saturday , the first home game between ranked teams in Tempe since 2014. Beat the Cougars and Arizona State can clinch a spot in the Big 12 Championship on Dec. 7 in Arlington, Texas, with a win over rival Arizona in the regular-season finale. “It means a lot to these guys to come in here with that chip on their shoulder and do something that really nobody thought we could do,” Dillingham said. Arizona State faced adversity on and off the field when Dillingham arrived in 2023. After winning eight games in 2021, the Sun Devils went 3-9 the following year while under investigation by the NCAA, a combination that led to the firing of Herm Edwards during his fifth season here. Dillingham had success as Oregon's offensive coordinator and brought the requisite enthusiasm of being a young — he was 32 at the time — first-time head coach returning to his alma mater. Despite rallying the community around the program, Dillingham fell into hard luck his first season in the desert. The Sun Devils were decimated by injuries, particularly at quarterback, and never recovered, finishing 3-9 for the second straight season. But Dillingham had the pieces in place. He proved to be adept at finding the right players through the transfer portal, landing former Sacramento State running back Cam Skattebo two years ago and former Michigan State quarterback Sam Leavitt prior to this season. The hard-running Skattebo has been one of the nation's best running backs and Leavitt has been a perfect fit for Arizona State's offense, making good decisions while extending plays with his legs. The portal success extends across Arizona State's roster and Dillingham has sprinkled in solid recruiting classes while convincing key players to remain, a combination that's meshed into a team that could crash the College Football Playoff if the pieces fall just right. “We were a three-win team twice,” Dillingham said. “We were under NCAA sanctions. Most head coaches, to be brutally honest, get fired if you take a job under sanctions. You don’t survive. You’re hired to be fired. That’s the nature of the beast and right now we’re sitting here at 8-2, and I couldn’t be prouder." Dillingham's vision for a better future, one the rest of the country didn't see coming, is here and now. Yet there are some huge London-listed growth stocks that aren’t on the index. That’s because specific listing rules make it impossible for certain stocks to join. Some reasons why include being incorporated abroad, lacking liquidity, or being denominated in another currency. However, a recent shake-up of the rules means some previously unwelcome stocks now have a chance to join the . One specific change is the merging of standard and premium listings into a single category. Previously, standard listings were not eligible as they didn’t comply with the higher standards of the UK Corporate Governance Code. In July, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) eased the rules in an attempt to reinvigorate the UK stock market. Subsequently, a massive £28.6bn company that’s been on the (LSE) since 2019 might soon join the FTSE 100. Coca-Cola Europacific ( ) manufactures and distributes and other drinks that fall under the brand, such as , , and . Besides the UK, it operates in a further 30 countries in Europe and Asia Pacific, including France, Germany, Australia, and Indonesia. In October, the company announced it would transfer its UK listing to the new Equity Shares (Commercial Companies) category, making it eligible for the FTSE 100 during the December review. If everything goes ahead as planned, it’s expected to join the index in March 2025. The stock’s currently traded in euros at a price of around €73 per share. It’s a steadily growing stock that’s up 63% over the past five years, equating to annualised growth of 10.29% a year. What’s it worth? Value-wise, the price looks fair, at 18 times . It’s also 1.8 times sales, which is okay but ideally could be lower. The stock’s debt-to-equity ratio’s a bit high, at 1.23, and the net profit margin is a bit low, at 8.42%. It has a decent dividend yield of 2.7% that’s well-covered by earnings, with a 55% payout ratio. Overall, it seems like a fairly stable company with the potential for moderate returns. In its first half of 2024 earnings call, revenue increased 9.5% while earnings slipped 6.7%. The also decreased slightly by half a percentage point due to higher expenses. A steady earner Revenue’s forecast to increase at a rate of 5.5% a year or the next three years. However, inflation and a tightening economy present some risks, as cash-strapped consumers turn to cheaper alternatives. This is already evident in regions facing financial struggles, where expensive soda may be viewed as an unnecessary luxury. If it loses market share to cheaper brands in these areas, profits could take a hit. However, people are unlikely to stop buying brands entirely. I don’t expect revenue to take a big hit. At the same time, I don’t expect the company to deliver outstanding returns in the immediate future either. It looks like a good option to consider as part of a defensive portfolio aimed at slow, steady growth. But I already have enough exposure to those stocks in my portfolio, so I don’t plan to buy the stock if it gets a place in the top-tier index.

Emerging tight end Noah Gray gives Mahomes and the Chiefs another option in passing game CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP Photo/Jacob Kupferman) CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes continues to build great chemistry with his tight end — just not the one you might think. Mahomes threw two touchdown passes to Noah Gray for the second straight week as the Kansas City Chiefs held off the Carolina Panthers 30-27 on Sunday. A week after losing at Buffalo, the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs (10-1) maintained their position atop the AFC. Mahomes completed a 35-yard touchdown strike to Gray on the game’s opening possession and found him again for an 11-yard TD in the second quarter. Gray has four touchdown catches in the last two weeks — twice as many as nine-time Pro Bowler Travis Kelce has all season — and has become a weapon in the passing game for the Chiefs, who lost top wide receiver Rashee Rice to a season-ending knee injury in Week 4. Kelce was still a factor Sunday with a team-high six catches for 62 yards, although the four-time All-Pro looked dejected after dropping one easy pass. Kelce has 62 receptions for 507 yards this season, while Gray has 26 catches for 249 yards. But Gray's development is a good sign for the Chiefs — and he's on the same page with Mahomes. On his second TD, Gray said Mahomes “gave me the answer to the test there” before the play. “He told me what coverage it was pre-snap," said Gray, who had four receptions for 66 yards. “That’s just the blessing you have of playing with a quarterback like that. Offensive line did a great job blocking that up and the receivers did a great job running their routes to pop me open. Really just a group effort right there on that touchdown.” Gray said that's nothing new. “Pat’s preparation, his leadership is just something that I’m fortunate enough to play alongside,” Gray said. "I love it. It gets me motivated every time we go out there for a long drive. Having a leader like that, that prepares every single week in-and out, knows defenses, knows the game plans. “I’m just fortunate enough to play alongside a guy like that.” Mahomes completed 27 of 37 passes for 269 yards and three TDs, and he knew what to do on the second TD to Gray. “It's not just me, it's the quarterback coaches and the players, we go through certain checks you get to versus certain coverages,” Mahomes said. “I was able to see by the way they lined up they were getting into their cover-zero look. I alerted the guys to make sure they saw what I saw and I gave the check at the line of scrimmage.” ___ AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nfl Steve Reed, The Associated Press See a typo/mistake? What's Jets 'Emergency' Plan If Breece Hall's Out?GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs left his team’s game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday because of a concussion. Doubs’ injury came on a third-quarter play in the end zone that resulted in a pass interference penalty against San Francisco’s Renardo Green. Doubs stayed down briefly after the play, then got up slowly before heading to the sideline. He went into the injury tent before walking to the locker room. The Packers then announced Doubs was out for the rest of the game because of a concussion. He had three catches for 54 yards before leaving. San Francisco defensive tackle Jordan Elliott left in the first half of the game to get evaluated for a concussion and was ruled out at halftime. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL
