Rajasthan minister Kirodi Lal Meena has opened up about the challenges he faces in his political career, following the electoral loss of his brother in the Dausa bypoll. In a series of posts in Hindi on platform X, Meena shared his belief that his distaste for sycophancy has led to numerous hardships. Meena, who boasts an extensive political career including terms as MLA, Lok Sabha MP, and Rajya Sabha MP, expressed his pain at the role 'traitors' played in his brother Jag Mohan Meena's defeat. Despite campaigning vigorously and sharing his storied past of public service, the Dausa seat was secured by Congress candidate Deen Dayal. Meena remains resolute, however, vowing to persist in his mission to support marginalized communities. Despite his brother's loss and the alleged betrayals within political circles, the minister asserted that he is undeterred and will continue serving the people with dignity. BIRMINGHAM, United Kingdom (AFP) — Emiliano Martinez produced a wonder save and Aston Villa were controversially denied a last-gasp winner in a 0-0 Champions League draw with Juventus on Wednesday. Chances were at a premium in Birmingham but the home side had Argentina international Martinez to thank for keeping the scores level. Then, deep into stoppage time, Morgan Rogers looked to have given Unai Emery’s team another famous win when he slammed a loose ball home. But the goal was ruled out after it was deemed that Diego Carlos had fouled Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio. Emery said he was “very happy” with the point despite the late ruling by the officials, describing the contact as “soft”. “The last action is clear, it is the interpretation of the referee,” the Spaniard told TNT Sports. “Only the interpretation. We know here in England, 80 per cent is not fault (foul) and maybe in Europe it is a fault.” Villa raced out of the blocks in Europe this season, winning their first three matches, but they have now gone seven games in all competitions without a victory. Emery made it clear before the match that a draw would not be a bad result against the Italian giants as he plots an exit from the revamped group stage. Juventus, playing without a recognised striker, enjoyed the bulk of possession in the early stages but showed little punch. The game opened up as the first half progressed. Teenager Kenan Yildiz drifted in from the left but dragged his shot wide of Martinez’s right-hand post in the 20th minute. The first shot on target for either side came when Ollie Watkins controlled a clever Boubacar Kamara pass in the 37th minute but Di Gregorio pushed the ball behind. Matty Cash lashed a shot towards goal from the resulting corner but it hit a Juventus player and the Italians broke with pace, Timothy Weah, playing up front, firing over from distance. Martinez then kept out a shot from the impressive Francisco Conceicao. But Villa came closest to breaking the deadlock in first-half stoppage time when Lucas Digne rattled the crossbar from a free-kick. Both teams showed more urgency early in the second half as the game picked up pace, with the home crowd trying to lift Villa. Two-time champions Juventus had a glorious chance to take the lead in the 65th minute when the ball fell to Conceicao at the back post from a corner. He got his effort on target but somehow Martinez made up ground to his right, diving low to keep the ball out, millimetres short of crossing the line. Five minutes later Villa were denied when Leon Bailey crossed for John McGinn, whose shot was kept out by the outstretched boot of Manuel Locatelli. The home side thought they had won the match in the final seconds but it was not to be. Villa, playing their first season in Europe’s top-tier competition since the 1982/83 season, are ninth in the Champions League table, with Thiago Motta’s Juventus down in 19th spot.

Kendrick Lamar surprised and delighted fans after releasing a new album with no warning. The California rapper posted a link on social media to his new album GNX, which features 12 songs running to just over 44 minutes in total. GNX is the 37-year-old’s sixth album and features SZA, Kamasi Washington and Mexican musician Deyra. Jack Antonoff, Taylor Swift ’s producer, is credited as a producer on all the tracks except one. There were rumours Swift herself would appear on the album but they proved incorrect. Kendrick, one of the world’s most streamed music artists, currently boasts around 60.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify. He has won multiple Grammys and a Pulitzer Prize for Music. Two weeks ago it emerged that Lamar had landed seven nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards, with five for Not Like Us, the Drake diss track. The awards take place in February. It will be a big month for Lamar who is to perform at the Super Bowl half-time show in New Orleans. That sparked a controversy as fellow rapper Lil Wayne was hoping to perform at the event in his hometown. Lamar addresses this in the opening track of his new album, called wacced out murals. It also references his much publicised feud with rapper Drake though doesn’t seem to escalate the war of words that has raged between them this year.

More info In a tragic turn of events, Russian actress Kamilla Belyatskaya described a picturesque beach as the "best thing I've seen in my life" in an eerie final post before being swept away by the ocean on the tourist island of Koh Sumui in Thailand. At just 24 years old, she had shared footage of herself perched on a pink foam yoga mat, enjoying the coastal views. However, she later became overpowered by the crashing waves and was seen struggling against the ocean's pull in a heartrending video clip. Her body was sadly discovered this past weekend, located two-thirds of a mile from where the devastating waves overtook her. Hailing from Novosibirsk, Russia, Kamilla was visiting the renowned location with her boyfriend and had expressed her affection for this special spot to her social media followers, dubbing Koh Sumui "home" and "the best place on earth". Her enthusiasm was palpable when she previously posted about a particularly enchanting rocky beach, sharing: "I love Samui so much. But this place, this rocky beach is the best thing I've ever seen in my life. Thank you, universe, for me being here right now. I'm very happy. I'm happy!" The young starlet had retrieved the pink mat from the boot of her car to take in the island’s sweeping vistas. Later, amidst treacherous conditions at sea, the same mat was spotted adrift. Despite rescue teams battling the ferocious seas and reaching the scene merely 15 minutes after she disappeared into the water, they were unable to save the ill-fated tourist. A witness recounted the distressing incident, saying: "We were there at that moment. It was about 1.40 pm." "A terrible tragedy," they added. "She sat on the rock for a long time. At some point, I turned away, and a second later I saw that the girl had been carried away by a wave. Her boyfriend was sitting much higher than she was. As soon as that happened, we ran to the Thais to call for help. I hoped that the girl would swim out... as soon as she was washed away she managed to swim out, screaming with the last of her strength and trying to stay on her back." Sadly, despite rescue teams reaching the scene in just 15 minutes, they couldn't save the ill-fated tourist. Her grief-stricken boyfriend and witnesses provided statements to local authorities detailing the calamity. Chaiyaporn Subprasert, head of Samui Rescue Centre, noted that warning protocols were indeed in place along the beaches. "During monsoon season, we constantly warn tourists, especially in high-risk areas like Chaweng and Lamai beaches, where red flags indicate no swimming.
